Co-Parenting Workshop Description

Specialized Skills for Divorced and Divorcing Parents

Children of Divorce have increased risk of:

-reduced academic competence

-more frequent illness

-behavior/delinquency problems

 

As Adults, Children of Divorce:

-Are more likely to divorce

-Rate lower on measures of Health and Happiness.

 

These Problems Are Preventable!

 

Research suggests that the divorce is not the cause of children’s problems.

The risk of problems increase when children are drawn into their parent’s conflict,

 lose contact with a parent, and/or experience significant environmental changes.

 

Workshop Description

 

This is a four hour educational workshop.

 It is designed to provide parents with the information and skills

 needed to minimize the impact of divorce on their children

 and maximize their parenting skills in their life long parenting relationship.

 

The Workshop takes no position on divorce being good or bad.

 Divorces occur and the potential damage to children can be prevented.

 

The Workshop is educational and  participants should not expect to receive

 legal advice or counseling in this workshop.

 

The Workshops is designed to meet the requirements of

Texas Family Code Section 105.009,

in which parents may be required by the court to attend a

" Parent Education and Family Stabilization Course."

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Workshop Goals

 

By the end of the workshop, Parents will  know the importance of and learn some techniques to:

 

1. Avoid/Resolve parental conflict without involving their children,

 

2. Provide for free and frequent access to both parents, and

 

3. Create child environments that are consistent, predictable and structured.

 

How to Register (1-2-3)

 

1. Select the date that you would like to attend from the schedule.

 

2. Print out, then complete the Registration Form.

 

3. Mail with check or money order for the total fee ($50 per person).

(Unless you picked one that is labeled "free.")

Make checks payable to "CCD."

 

4.  Registration is due 1 week prior to workshop.

 

Remember...

 

* Pre-registration is required.

* No child-care is provided.

* Workshops start on time.

 * Divorcing couples do not have to attend together.
