Family Tree Program

The Family Tree Program provides free (Funded by the state of Texas, TDFPS-STAR) short-term services for Denton and Dallas County at-risk youth and their families (If you are looking for services in Wise County, see the Family Connection Program.)

Eligibility

Families are usually eligible if:

Youth is under 18 years old, and meets one of the following criteria:

1. Youth has runaway, or
2. Youth has been truant, or
3. Youth has been delinquent, or
4. there is family conflict.

Services

Services to eligible families may include any or all of the following services:

1. brief family counseling
2. parenting skills groups
3. youth skills groups
4. multi-family skills groups
5. Crisis Intervention counseling – Our crisis line (866-962-1119) is staffed at night, weekends and holidays for families in crisis (child out of the home or family has experienced a recent traumatic event). Important: If there is current danger or an emergency, do not call the hotline. Call 911.

Universal Prevention Services

Universal Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Services are also free, but unlike other Family Tree Services, everyone is eligible.

Free Workshops: One way to reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect is by providing enrichment skills to families, parents, and the professionals who serve them. We will be offering a variety of free workshops this year. To see a list of currently scheduled workshops click here.
