For: Adolescents, age 12 - 17, with substance abuse problems. This group is also appropriate for adolescents who have completed a higher level of care (i.e. Inpatient hospital, residential treatment, juvenile detention, day programs, and IOP programs) and need "aftercare" support.

Structure: This is an "open" group, where members can start any time during the 12 week group cycle.  Open groups are used to provide education and peer support to participants.

2.      ...learn to cope with peer pressure and stress in healthy, positive, and sober ways.

3.      ...learn to avoid relapse pitfalls and relapse triggers.

4.      ...begin exploring the 12 steps and how spirituality can help the individual distance themselves from the addiction lifestyle.

5.      ...develop a personal written relapse prevention plan tailored to their individual needs and social environment

6.      ...practice their relapse prevention plans to reduce recidivism when applicable.
