H.O.P.E. “Healthy Options for Personal Expression”
A group for youth who are struggling with self-injuring behaviors (cutting, bruising, or burning) to learn to identify and express feelings in a healthy way.
Wednesday Evenings in Lewisville from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
For: Youth ages 12-18 who desire to learn healthy coping and communication skills.
(Parents are welcome to join the second session)
Structure: This is an “open” group where participants may start at any time.
Goals: Clients will:
1. learn to build and practice healthy coping skills to better handle emotions and impulse control.
2. learn to recognize distorted thinking patterns that promote self-injurious behaviors.
3. practice new communication styles to more accurately express their own thoughts and feelings.
4. be empowered to make healthy choices.
Parents of children who self injure will receive education, support, and tools to help their youth.
Time and Place: Wednesday evenings from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM at the Counseling Center of Lewisville.
Length: Open support group
Fee: $20/ per session
