Clinical Internships

Now accepting applications for Spring of 2027

CCD hosts Counseling and Social Work Master’s students who wish to complete their final clinical placement in a private agency setting.

Is CCD the right placement for you?

Prior to applying for one of the Internship positions, applicants should click around on CCDCounseling.com and FamilyTreeProgram.org to learn more about the agency, clinicians, and services.

Additional facts about CCD and the Internship:

  • We require an interview and a background check.
  • We operate out of 4 locations in Denton, Lewisville, & Farmer Branch. Interns may need to travel to different locations.
  • We work with children, adults, and families of many races, ethnicities, abilities, neurotypes, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
  • We are an LGBTQIA-affirming practice.
  • We can accomodate internships that include about 16 hours per week. If your internship requires more, we suggest a dual placement.
  • Interns at CCD are most successful if they have initiative. Students will be expected to co-create their educational experience, including processes required by their program and recruiting clients for their clinical experience.
  • CCD is a hybrid organization that blends an agency practice with a group private practice. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in both sides of the agency. They will see what service provision in an agency setting looks like AND get to participate in all aspects of a private practice from marketing to service provision to billing.
  • There are lots of opportunities for interns to observe and participate in agency meetings, including clinical trainings, case staffing, and business meetings. CCD can accommodate different schedules, but many events take place on Tuesday and Thursday daytimes, so interns should make sure their schedule permits them to be on-site Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and have other weekday availability. We are unable to accommodate schedules that are only evening and weekends. Additionally, most clients accessing intern services require evening and/or weekend hours. Interns should plan to have clinical hours available at those times.
  • Clients pay to receive services from our interns and interns are paid for providing those services.

Are you the right intern for CCD?

Interns are one source of recruiting future practice partners at CCD. We only accept interns in their final semester(s). If you will need additional classes after your internship, we are not a good fit. Preference is given to interns who think it likely that they will want to stay at CCD when they are provisionally licensed, taking advantage of CCD’s free supervision. At the end of your internship, you may be invited to stay and offered a bonus if you make that commitment to CCD.
To make our lives simpler, preference is also given to students from some local schools, including UNT, TWU, and UTA. If you are out of another program, it doesn’t mean you can’t get a seat, but you may have to sell yourself a bit harder or do more legwork to get us up to speed with your school’s program.

I have done my homework and think this might be a good match. How do I continue the conversation?

That’s great. We look forward to hearing from you. If you have questions, just send them to ccd@ccdcounseling.com. When you’re ready to move forward, just click here to complete the application.
